Having rediscovered my livejournal from my University years, I feel it would only be right for me to provide an update stating where I am, what I'm doing and what's generally going on - it is 5 years since my last post after all!  Maybe I will carry on updating from now on or maybe this will be a one off until my next post in 2016!

I now live in West Ealing, London where I am 3 years into my job in account management for a training compamy (qa).  After graduating i spent time as a chef (in both Clitheroe and Valmeinier, France), a Butcher (at booths), an ticket office worker (at ewood park) before I found my job in the graduate team at QA.  I work in Slough which is a horrendous, god forsaken place in many ways however its not all bad:-

1.  its a 20 minute train ride from Ealing, a train ride which is NOT as busy as the trains going into central London
2.  I can live in Ealing which is a great area, central London is easily accessible
3.  I have lots of London clients so I do manage to get into central London quite a bit

I enjoy my job and have developed an awful lot of understanding of how business and sales work.  Learning how to manage clients, manage events and take responsibility for large scale projects is really rewarding and is something I can see myself doing a for a long time.  This year I want to push on and take my career further forward.  I'm taking my Prince2 Foundation exam in March and am going to finally get my driving licence over the coming months (1st driving lesson is on the 5th March.  2011 needs to be a big year!!

Away from work, I'm still a massive Blackburn Rovers fan and have been to a lot of London games over the last few years (although I am still yet to see a win since before I wrote my last post!)  I have managed to carry on the Eden's Court Reunited by forming the Samba Stars, a six a side outfit playing mondays in the men's Paddington league.

Right, that's about it for now, just going to watch MOTD2 where Rovers thumped WBA 2-0 to reach the dizzy heights of 7th in the Premier League!

Subject:York 2 - 4 Accrington Stanley

Mood: chipper

I went to see york play Accrington Stanley today at the Kit Kat Crescent (dont ask). Accrington easily won 4-2, it was quality! York took the lead with a header from a corner Clayton Donaldson. Mullin pulled Accrington level with a good finish, but then one of the two ex-rovers playing for York, Andy Bishop, put the home side back in front finishing off well after excellent work down the left by Donaldson. The Celebrations were raptuous... (Darren Dunning was the other Rovers player).

York Celebrating!

Straight after half time Accrington equalised with a penalty won after a York defender used his arm to block a shot (would this have been given in the Premiership???). York failed to get back into it and conceeded two more in quick succession, the pick of them coming from Ian Craney, cutting in from the right and drilling home his shot into the far corner past Porter. It was now Accrington's turn to celebrate...

Accrington Celebrating!

Andy Bishop missed a last minute penalty after Clayton Donaldson had been brought down, but the damage had been done. Accrington Stanley now get to look forward to their first season in ages in the football league whereas York must now look to the lottery that is the play off. It was a fun experience, and I look forward to going again. Rovers won away at sunderland, which is also good!!

Later.

A lot has happened since i last updated. We had a party a couple of weeks back, the theme was 60s/70s and Cuth came up to York for it - he is a legend. The party went well, we got the Amp in the lounge and created an authentic playlist which was awesome. The only annoying thing is that the girls from across the road came and got hammeroonied and started throwing stuff around my room and looking through all my folders...which was nice. Here is Rich looking Uber Disco

I got em back the next week though when we went to THEIR party and i messed up one of their rooms heh heh, that'll teach em - well all i did was change round her CDs in their cases but hey, it's a start... Before our party there was an incredible Snowshower which put about 3/4 inches down in just a few hours. It was awesome!!

Uni work is starting to pick up a bit now, i got two essays to write, ive made a start on both of them and they should both be done in the next couple of weeks. Then i have finals and dissertation to concentrate on yay.

Rovers are looking good for the Champions League - its ALL good.

Well last week was a bit of a lazy one, i went out on tuesday and wednesday (my bro was here on wed) which was cool, but didnt manage to get that much work done. Played football on wednesday and friday - we lost 6-1 on friday. 6 a side football REALLY isnt that fun when your record is played 4 lost 4 scored 2 conceded 25.... Went to goodricke event on friday nite for Dan's birthday where i got VERY drunk on this stupid cocktail... i had a hangover in the morning like i havent had since first year!! Worked saturday and sunday and after work on sunday Dafydd and me went to the Goodricke bar quiz on the way home from work and won a bottle of wine!! We do indeed rock. Only downside is that my right eye has flared up again and i have to go to the hospital today to get some shit to sort it out....:(:(

We are partying on Friday

My six a side team lost by a staggering 9-1 margin today. Only FOUR of us turned up so we were bound to stuggle, to be fair it was a fair effort and we scored our first goal of the season... SO not impressed by my fellow team mates and i bled an awful lot :(

A least we didnt lose by a figure that went into double figures!

Phew, another relatively busy week. I got in trouble from my seminar leader for Political Sociology for missing two seminars in a row :S He sent me a pissed off email and got in touch with the department oops... I went this week though so i am in the process of getting back in the good books...I went home on tuesday night after having a busy 2 days of solid uni stuff which was cool. I then went to manchester on Wednesday to a graduate recruitment exhibition at the GMEX which was relatively helpful in providing me with options for nest year even if it was really REALLY boring. I then wandered about a bit, and then found the central library and spent a couple of hours there doing some reading. I then wandered into the town centre and got some lunch and had a look around the shops... I then RANDOMLY bumped into Fay and Dob which was very cool/unexpected! I got stopped by a girl doing a survey about valentines day and she said i looked very smart for a student (I was wearing a suit) :):):):) I then got the train home at about 4:30, gettin in at york at around 6 - still on a high after the good words said about my appearance went out to ziggy's which was a laugh. Did very little on Thursday and Friday until friday evening where i went to a party which had a "love" theme - which in fact translated to the fact that a load of the girls dressed as trampy prostitutes. Rich, me and John being boring didnt dress up, so it must have looked like we were patrons at a seedy brothel from the outside....:s Here is a picture of me at the party:-

Happy valentines people

Well ive had a relatively busy week this time. On monday i spent all day (12-11:30pm) at uni doing work for my presentation on tuesday (which still ended up being rubbish!!) I was in uni all day on tuesday (well 10-8) doing various things, i had a meeting with oli at the student services and i had to go to work. I went to toffs with Imi in the evening and got hideously drunk - I hate it when i do that - Tom says he had to convince this girl from getting a bouncer to chuck me out at one point cos i was so all over the place :S :S :S ooops. I sobered up towards the end and walked home with Barry so its not ALL bad. On wednesday i organised a kick around for the football team on the astroturf at 11:00 which was really good even though it was about minus one million degrees centigrade!!! Looks like we got a few new players for today which is all good...I then went to the library to try and get some books but realised i had lost my card so i came home and played pro evo for about 3 hours with Tom!!! heh heh. Me oli and Tom then went to leeds to go watch Reel Big Fish at the Met which was quality although i am not a great 'Fish' fan, they have one or two class songs and really know how to play the crowd. My mind was elsewhere for the first half of the gig as i had to keep checking how Rovers were doing - We were FOUR ONE up just after half time against united amd then they got it back to 4-3...We seriously have a shout for Europe this season! Awesome! After the gig we went to this club in Leeds called Hifi which play Jazz, Soul, Blues, funk etc. It was reallly good even though i was absolutely knackered! Because of the way the trains work, we all had to stay till 3:00am, getting back to York at 4:00am - suffice it to say my seminar the next day was a no show....oops. I did literally nothing on thursday and now it is 10:15 am on friday and im preparing for ECRU's first match of the season (report will be on here dont worry) Actually i think i might go back to sleep...

Well my week has started in a bit of a frenzy since sunday. I had lectures on monday which i went to, I also managed to fit in some reading as well. In my second lecture, i got told that the exam results were up - or more specifically, the exam i thought i had FAILED was up :S I spent the whole hour of Simon Parker talking about Democracy in political sociology not concentrate but SHITTING myself that i will soon find out that i will be chucked out of uni or something:S I went to get the results with Elliot who also had to get his results (but he seemed way calmer - he WASNT shaking like a leaf). I found out i got a high 2:2 which isnt great but isnt a fail. When i found out, i was sooo relieved, i turned to elliot and told him about it. i was like "I thought i'd failed, i'm so glad im not this guy (I point to another result of someone who got a 42)" At this point Elliot goes, "....errr yeh that's me..." SHIT SHIT SHIT - nightmare situation, classic burnsey foot-in-mouth disease. (In case anyone is wondering why i didnt notice it was Elliot who got the bad mark - the only exam numbers are given, no names are). Now i just have to get my Karl Marx Essay which im a little hopeful for, i dont think i failed this one! After uni i went home and chilled a bit, Harvey came round and we watched Futurama/South Park with beer before we went out to the gallery (a bit of a monday night routine) It was a good laugh and at about 11 we went out, Jon randomly decided to join us which was perculiar...I noticed the abundance of Ordinary Boys when we went out...why's that do you think?!?!? Harvey pulled a girl and asked me today whether she was fit or not!!!?!!? hahaha...

(An Artist's rendition of Harvey last night...)
Today i did some reading for my seminar then met up for a meeting about political sociology with Rory and this other guy who's name i cant remember. I hadnt done any work for it and Rory was v pissed off and acted like an arse...tit. Then i went to my Princes, republics and utopia's seminar which was interesting but really difficult to get involved in...I then went to work which was crap cos it was SOOO cold and work is boring but had a laugh with Alison! Looks like i might be going out in leeds tommorrow - you SHOULDNT agree to things when drunk!!

Anyway, just found out we got Wigan in the Carling cup final when we get there ;)

Check out the scrolling shit, i am the Livejournalling master!

I have just returned to York, well on Tuesday, it's good to be back but now i need to get going with the old dissertation - which is yet to get of the ground AT ALL...ooops, well i've done a bit, but not nearly as much as i should. Had a great christmas/new year. Went out three times (Christmas Eve, then on the 28th, then on New Years Eve) and got pretty drunk each time, which was all good. New Years Eve was especially brilliant. We went to Perkins for his now customary "do" where much hilarity occured. Will got pissed and made some quality speeches and i provided everyone with a quite splendid rendition of "Say it ain't so"...hmmmm, maybe not!

I got a digital camera for chrimbo so photos on Livejournal will now be more frequent and brilliant.

Just before i went back to uni, I went to see Rovers beat Portsmouth 2-1, where i managed to take some photos. here is one i'm especially proud of...

So then, its pretty much the end of term, and as usual its all a bit hectic. Ive got an essay to write next week and i have to go to the careers centre but i have no lectures/seminars so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Joost came to visit us on thursday so on thursday nite we went out. I had a really stressful day prepping for a seminar in Political sociology so was a bit frazzled. Rich, Oli, John, Joost and me went for a Curry at Wetherspoons (gorgeous) and then went to a few bars in town (god bless 24 hr drinking) Where the girls (Liz, Leonie, Adele, Charlotte and Alex) met us. I was k-nackered and was nearly fallin asleep at the end so we didnt go clubbing, just came back and crashed out.

Friday was another busy day, but in a good way. Joost and me went for brekkie (well at 12) at Maccy D's and then wandered round town for a bit where joost spent lots of cash - lucky git. We came back an chilled for a bit, and then Oli and me went BACK to town to try and find some tinsel and christmas lights....we went into about 10 different shops and couldnt find either for love nor money. We finally found some crappy tinsel-wannabe stuff, and came home in a thoroughly non-christmassy state. John had fared better, and had found some lights. I had to go straight to work when we got back, so i left oli and john to decorate the tree. Got back for work and got pizza and chilled out, went to the pub for last orders then went to bed.

Got up on saturday and we started gettin the house ready for the party, oli and me went to Aldi to get the booze. Then i went to work which was a nightmare as i just wanted it to pass so i could party! Kieron and me then walked back together and we had a great house party. Everyone got v drunk and had a good time. People shouted at me constantly cos they wanted/didnt want christmas music among other things. But was a generally good do...

But that brings me to the now. Booths next week - should be good :S

Life aint all bad - apart from astronomical phone bills - bye bye contract methinks

peace and fucking

After a speight of constant livejournal updating, it kinda ground to a halt - mainly because not a lot was happening. I will now try to sum up the highlights of the last couple of weeks here - which wont take long !!

Well we won in the 6 a side on tuesday, 4-1 equalling our biggest ever win, I missed a penalty and Tom got a hat-trick, it was weird, we whipped ass, but because it wasnt a major struggle it didnt feel THAT amazing! We now go into next week pretty confident, although the team we are playing are AWESOME, they have uni firsts and 6-a-side veterans. If we win 4-1 then, it WILL feel amazing!

My mum came up last sunday which was kewell, we had pizza and she finally got to see my room - which for some reason she was really wanted to do!!

Something cool has happened actually, we live on Heslington Road in York, it's really studenty so this year we created the heslington road association together with our next door neighbours. Basically all it is is a website where people living on the street can post messages so parties can be advertised. We have already been to two house parties because of it and there is one planned for next friday too! Take a look at the site - its http://www.freewebs.com/hesroad/

Its gonna be big folks. VERY big.

Loving it!

I would just like to clarify that last monday i went to the gallery with harvey AND jon. Me an jon spent most of it togeva as harvey buggered off to try and pull and i must say jon's company was exquisit and welcome. I look forward to future nights avec monsieur croxford.

Went to work today hungover after the houseparty i went to last night. It was, as the french say, bon.

We went to Leeds last night which was quite cool. We just went straight to Creation from the station so we didnt really have a chance to take much in AND everyone went home at like half twelve so it was a bit poor. Was fun though. Done literally nothing today and i will probably do nothing tommorrow as well... Then im working at the wknd... its a hard life indeed.
